evidence-based approaches

My clinical expertise integrates a range of evidence-based approaches, including psychodynamic psychotherapy, relational therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, humanistic psychotherapy, and existential psychotherapy. I understand and value the uniqueness of each client and recognize that their needs may differ and evolve throughout the course of therapy. That’s why, in our work together, we will create individualized and flexible treatment plans, tailored to your specific needs and goals for therapy, and rooted in evidence-based approaches.

  • Psychodynamic Psychotherapy focuses on helping individuals gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships by exploring their thoughts, emotions, and past experiences with the goal of understanding how these factors affect their mood, behavior, and relationships. This approach is based on the belief that unresolved issues from the past can continue to impact an individual’s life, even if they are not aware of it. Through this process, individuals may gain insight into problematic behavior and relationship patterns, resolve internal conflicts, and develop new ways of coping with challenges.

  • Relational Therapy explores the influence of early and current relationships on an individual’s sense of self to aid in the understanding of current relationship patterns. Relational Therapy aims to explore, understand, and address these patterns in order to help clients develop healthier and more fulfilling relationships and as a result, improve their overall wellbeing.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) uses acceptance and mindfulness strategies, together with commitment and behavior change skills, to increase psychological flexibility. Psychological flexibility is the ability to experience the present moment with awareness and without defense. In ACT, individuals learn how to make healthy contact with difficult or avoided thoughts, feelings, and memories, develop greater clarity about personal goals and values, and commit to needed behavior change for living more meaningful and fulfilling lives.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focuses on the connection between an individual’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. This approach is based on the idea that negative or unhelpful thoughts can lead to negative emotions and behaviors. In CBT, individuals work towards identifying and challenging negative thoughts or beliefs that may be causing them distress or contributing to problematic behaviors and learn new coping skills for overcoming challenges.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy based on the principles of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. It helps individuals learn to manage intense emotions, develop healthy coping mechanisms, and build stronger relationships.

  • Humanistic Psychotherapy is a therapeutic approach that emphasizes the individual’s capacity for personal growth and self-awareness. Self-directed growth is fostered in a supportive and non-judgmental environment in which feelings, thoughts, and behaviors can be explored. The goal is to help individuals develop a greater sense of self-understanding, self-acceptance, and self-esteem, and to empower them to actualize their potential through positive change.

  • Existential Psychotherapy is a form of therapy that focuses on exploring the meaning and purpose of life, and how clients can create a sense of meaning and purpose in their own lives. It is based on the belief that individuals have the capacity to create their own meaning and purpose in life, and that this process can be facilitated through therapy. Existential Psychotherapy encourages clients to confront and explore their own mortality, freedom, and responsibility, and to find ways to live their lives in a more authentic and fulfilling way.
